A WORD ABOUT MY SKIN...

I have gotten a few compliments on my skin and I have to say that I owe it all to Young Living. I currently use a face wash made up from the shower gel base and YL's tea tree oil followed by the Sensation lotion. I use a pea-sized amount of the lotion all over my face. I LOVE this stuff!

EXPERIMENTING WITH LESS THAN SIX INCHES OF HAIR...

So...I decided to step outside the afro box and see WHAT I can do with what I have...I have styled my hair in the typical parted down the middle and twisted on the sides style that is VERY common with hair like mine, but I REALLY wanted something MORE. Enter a vintage-inspired pin-up. Since y hair is very short, I stuffed it with knee-highs that have the tops cut off. Enjoy...

TAKING DOWN HAIR SECTIONS

I twist my hair in fairly large sections each night. What I used to do is twist the sections in the opposite direction and run my finger down the middle of the two sections in order to separate them. What I realized over time is that ANY downward PULLING of my hair WILL result in knots, so I untwist the sections and gently pull them apart to further achieve the afro look that I typically wear, I pull all sections apart with my fingers than shape the overall look with my fingers and gently lift with a comb if I need more fullness. This has been working and I have fewer knots than ever.
One other thing...once I style my hair I try very hard to REFRAIN from touching it as this also helps prevent knots.

Happy styling!

WHAT I'M WORKING WITH...

This is my hair on wash day. I typically experienced tangles, knots, and breakage. Now I am able to style my hair with minimal tangles. When I apply Young Living's lavender mint shampoo, my hair feels silky and not the least bit stripped. This sets the stage for the companion conditioner, which is moisturizing , has a lot of slip, and is non-greasy. The therapeutic grade essential oils soothe my scalp and allow me to breathe a DEEP sigh of relief! Young Living products do not contain parabens, mineral oil, or other toxic yuckies.

THE SOFTEST HAIR EVER!

This is what I use for manageability and softness. I used to struggle with my hair and nowI don't. I love the fact that I am using all-natural, non-toxic hair care products. On wash day, my hair is left soft and strong! My products of choice are Lavender mint shampoo and conditioner, Melaleuca alternifolia, (also known as tea tree)  peppermint oil, and lavender oil. All are from Young Living. I blend all three oils together to make a scalp oil, which soothes my scalp and makes it less flaky. Young Living offers a Seed to Seal guarantee on all of its oils, which are included in the products. Email me if you'd like to know more.  cpoggal@gmail.com Young Living Independent member #2056728

WHAT'S GOIN' ON?

Well, It's been a while since I first started this blog and I decided to resurrect it because I have REALLY learned a LOT about how to take care of my hair and I REALLY do NOT struggle with it anymore unless...

1) I wear typical twists. Twists are a style whereby you take two pieces of hair and twist them around each other creating a rope-like appearance. This is cute, except...IF the hair gets damp or wet, the sections of hair want to mat up and tangle. When it comes time to take these sections down, OUCH! I end up with knots at the end of my hair, which is NOT a good thing! I CAN put my hair into larger twisted sections in order to stretch it out a bit, but the smaller twists are an absolute NO.

2) I use the standard over the counter products. If I use sulfate-based shampoos and silicone laden conditioners, my hair is a mess. These days, however, I use the Young Living Lavender Mint shampoo and conditioner, and it is AMAZING!!

3) I use cheap combs. I broke down and spent the $12 on a seamless comb and I LOVE it! It does NOT snag my hair AT ALL and I would easily spend the money again.

The products and tools that I currently use make my hair VERY manageable. I would not be able to get through hair day without them!
